Hey there! I'm a visual anthropologist, multimedia artist and filmmaker, with a research interest in media theory, human relationships, and visual culture.
Originally from Guangzhou, China, I obtained my MA in Visual Anthropology at Goldsmiths University of London. I conducted ethnographic fieldwork in Northeastern Nepal while studying abroad in 2018, exploring people's relationships with smart phones in a place lack of adequate Internet infrastructure, and how they relate to larger socio-political influences. I also produced an ethnographic short film during my last year of undergraduate at Brandeis University, investigating subcontract labor politics in the dining service sector of the university. I am committed to producing knowledge and understandings of the human experience through artistic mediums such as film, and therein promote positive social impact.
My most recent film, "Like, Comment, Subscribe Chinese Virus" is my MA dissertation which I worked with other diasporic Chinese women to explore the visceral impacts of racism through the digital world at the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.
